August 22 - September 1, 2019 Saint Anthony's Relics visit Massachusetts (USA)

The tour begins on Thursday, August 22 and ends on Sunday, September 1. 
Father Alessandro Ratti OFM Conv. will bring two first-class relics of our beloved Saint Anthony of Padua to the Centennial Feast Days in the North End of Boston, Massachusetts from August 22 to 25. 

From August 26 to August 31, the relics will travel to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fall River, Massachusetts. 
On Sunday, September 1, the tour will end at The Shrine of Saint Anthony in Boston proper, on Arch Street.

June 2019: Saint Anthony's Relics visit USA, Canada and Australia

This June three friars from the Basilica will take first-class relics of St Anthony to his devotees throughout the world.

Fr. Alessandro Ratti will be in the USA from June 6 to 16, and precisely in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York. 

Fr. Paolo Floretta will be in Toronto (Canada) from June 8 to 16, while Fr. Mario Conte will be in Australia from June 5 to 16.

Celebrate Easter with the friars of the Basilica of Saint Anthony!

This year Easter is further enlightened by our beloved Pope Francis’ letter to the Youth of the World that he delivered at the end of the Synod of Bishops.
 

Highlighting the problems, the difficulties, the contradictions we are experiencing, he wrote:

"I remind you of the good news that was given to us on the morning of the Resurrection: that in all the dark and painful situations we experience there is always a way out ... Don't let hope and joy be stolen from you".

Lent in the Basilica of St Anthony 2019

Lent begins on Wednesday 6 March. This is a time of conversion and penitence in preparation for Easter.

Pope Francis has addressed the following message to all Christians on the occasion of the 2019 Lenten season:

«When we live as children of God, redeemed, led by the Holy Spirit (cf. Rom 8:14) and capable of acknowledging and obeying God’s law, beginning with the law written on our hearts and in nature, we also benefit creation by cooperating in its redemption».

“Feast of the Tongue of the Saint” Sunday 17 February in the Basilica of St Anthony

The Feast of the Translation of the Saint’s Relics, commonly called the Feast of the Tongue, will be held on Sunday 17 February. This is the second, most important feast celebrating St Anthony after the June 13 feast, and marks the discovery of his uncorrupt tongue over 750 years ago, more than 30 years after his death. This scientifically inexplicable phenomenon is what faith calls a miracle, seeing that the relic of the tongue, the instruments used by St Anthony for preaching, is still visible and uncorrupt after many centuries.

St. Anthony’s friars pray for those who are sick and suffering

‘The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.’
Psalm 41:3

Saint Anthony is the Saint of Miracles, and those who are sick lovingly place their trust in his intercession.

If, among your family members or your friends, there is someone who is sick you may send us their names: on 11 February, World Day of Prayer for the Sick, we friars will pray for their healing.
