Merry Christmas 2020 to all of Saint Anthony's devotees

Fr. Mario Conte, editor of the «Messenger of Saint Anthony» magazine, sends his warmest wishes to all of St. Anthony's devotees. Please watch his Christmas meditation.

St Anthony was really an extraordinary preacher, and he desperately wanted everybody to understand the importance of the mystery of the Incarnation. The mystery of God choosing the poverty of a manger over Omnipotence in order to be close to us, his children.

But what about us? Do we recognize the Lord present in the wonderful Sacrament of the Eucharist? Do we recognize his presence in the signs, sacraments and mysteries of the Church? Do we see Jesus present in our neighbors, especially those who, like the Christ Child, are weak, vulnerable, helpless and needy?

It is questions like these which confront us as we approach Christmas once again. Amidst the business of a world that is often indifferent and selfish, let us pause to contemplate the Baby “lying in a manger” between a donkey and an ox, and recognize the great and enduring mystery of Emmanuel, the “God-With-Us”.

May your heart be happy and your days be bright with the light of God’s love. From the Basilica of St Anthony in Padua, Italy: Merry Christmas!
