2022 Lent in St. Anthony’s Basilica, Padua

All the celebrations and moments of spirituality

On March 2, Ash Wednesday, the Lenten season begins. Below you will find the program of the celebrations and moments of spirituality to be held at the Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua.

 

ASH WEDNESDAY

In all the Masses it will be possible to receive the rite of Blessing and Distribution of Ashes.

The 6.00 pm (CET) celebration in Italian will be live streamed (see below for details).

 

The great family of Saint Anthony, present in every corner of the world, in response to Pope Francis' invitation, unites in prayer and fasting for peace on Wednesday, March 2 – Ash Wednesday. We will unite with the people of Ukraine and with all those who are suffering from violence and war.

 

LENTEN SERMONS

During the weekday 6.00 pm Mass the traditional Lenten Sermons will be delivered (this Italian celebration will be live streamed).

 

VIA CRUCIS

Within the precincts of the Basilica the Via Crucis will be celebrated every Friday at 4.00 pm.

 

MEDITATIONS ON THE EASTER TRIDUUM

A series of meetings called “Nel cuore di Dio” (In God’s Heart) will be held at 9.00 pm in the Basilica on Friday 25 March, and on 1 and 8 April.

These are a series of Easter Triduum mediations through art promoted by the friars of the Basilica’s “Artistic Pastoral Initiative”. Free entrance on the basis of the relevant Covid norms.
