“Your Son Lives!” - Sunday, April 11, Holy Mass dedicated to all those who have lost a son or a daughter

On the Second Sunday of Easter, Divine Mercy Sunday, the Basilica will livestream on its web and social sites a special celebration at 11:00am (CET) dedicated to those families who are experiencing this painful event

It has been called “Your Son Lives!” and consists in a Solemn Holy Mass dedicated to all those who have lost a daughter or a son – the greatest suffering for any parent. This Holy Mass, presided over by the Rector, Fr. Oliviero Svanera, is celebrated in the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua on Sunday, April 11, at 11:00 am (CET), and will be livestreamed on our web and social sites.

The date of this initiative, which was begun by the Friars of the Basilica in 2017, coincides with Divine Mercy Sunday (the Second Sunday of Easter) thus sending a strong message connected to the Resurrection and to relying on the Merciful Heart of the Lord for comfort.

During the celebration a special invocation will be made to Saint Anthony, who held the Jesus Child warmly in his arms, just like a father and a mother hold their child. Also, a special blessing will be imparted to the bereaved so that faith in the Resurrection, hope in the future and fraternal solidarity may be revived in them.

In these years of pastoral activity the Friars of the Basilica have met families hard hit by the painful experience of losing a daughter or a son. The friars have shared with them the search for meaning in the gaze of the Merciful Jesus, for a ray of light, and for words of truth and consolation, so that, by fraternally sharing this experience with them, they will not be left alone to face this traumatic and delicate experience by themselves.
