43rd Day for Life: Sunday 7 February – Blessing for the Gift of a Child

Holy Mass at 11.00am (CET) and blessing for the gift of a child. The event will also be live streamed on the Basilica’s website.

On the occasion of the “43rd National Day for Life,” held on Sunday, 7 February at 11:00am (CET) a Holy Mass will be celebrated in our Basilica dedicated to expectant mothers, to couples hoping to receive a child, and also to those who are thanking their beloved Saint because they are now embracing their child. The celebrations will also be live streamed on our web and social media sites.

After the Eucharistic celebration, presided over by Fr. Oliviero Svanera, the Rector of the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua, Italy, a blessing for expectant mothers and couples will also take place.

The Rector, along with the other co-celebrating priests, will first of all invoke God’s blessings, through the Saint’s intercession, on those present, and then a second special blessing according to the particular situation: for the health of mother and child during the pregnancy and the birth; to ask for the gift of motherhood and fatherhood; and to express gratitude because that gift has been granted.
